Building Your HTAM Business

Hi everybody and welcome to this blog and for those who don’t realize it, it is a Podcast as well. More correctly then, the podcast is a more conversational approach to the same content that you’re reading here, along with links and references that you will probably miss while listening to the podcast because you might be driving or listening somewhere else where it’s difficult to take notes.

The people on my email list know by now that that get an inspirational email from me every weekday, so this one will be no surprise but it is different in that I want to teach a little more about what building a High Ticket Affiliate Business is really like.

Building any sort of business involves 3 levels of marketing in order to get the thing off the ground. Level one is just getting “Cold Traffic”. That is traffic that knows nothing about what you are offering, so this is where all businesses start. If you are offering a product or service that you know people want then the process of getting cold traffic isn’t too difficult.

You’ll be surprised at the number of people who attempt to start a business without first asking if anyone actually wants whatever they are selling. It sounds really obvious, but you have to establish that other people will actually be interested in your product or service. A quick Google search and a bit of keyword research will soon tell you if anyone is looking for the solution you have. This is where the internet has truly revolutionized business. It takes out much of the guesswork.

There is a multitude of ways to get traffic from paid options to free organic options. The quickest way is to pay for traffic. That means paid advertising.

It used to be quite easy to get unpaid advertising out there using social media but now days that option is disappearing as social media matures and companies like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc. realize the huge opportunity paid advertising gives them as platform providers.

The second level of marketing is to attract “Warm Traffic” to your business. Warm traffic is what you get when you offer your product or service to people who have already shown an interest. Examples of this include people who may have subscribed to your email list, people who have “Liked” your Facebook page and people who otherwise react or respond to your cold marketing strategies. Marketing to warm traffic gives you the opportunity to describe your business or offer more fully because you already know that people are interested to some degree. This blog and podcast are an example of that.

Marketing to warm traffic is all about offering valuable content and information to your prospective buyers.

Level three marketing is much more sophisticated and should never be attempted until you have mastered both level 1 and 2. If you haven’t got really good at levels 1 & 2 then you will fail miserably at level 3. Level 3 marketing is when you begin to create and sell your own unique products alongside your affiliate products.

When you can create and offer your very own products and services that you have developed as a result of your own expertise and training, you will have established yourself as an expert in the eyes of your audience. This involves creating your own websites, sales funnels, videos and all the other marketing material needed to truly operate your own brand of business. This level of skill provides you with positioning in the marketplace.

Once you have got established as an affiliate marketer and understand the basics well, you now have to get serious about building your business. It is very important to face this fact: Most people will not buy from you.

Get used to it. Over 95% of the clicks you generate from your marketing efforts will not result in sales. Sort of puts spending money on advertising into perspective doesn’t it?

In affiliate marketing, only about 1 in 300 clicks will result in a sale. Pretty low number, but since this is a numbers game, you can still make a fortune from that ratio. It all comes down to the economics of your business, how much you can afford to spend on advertising to acquire a customer.

To work out your economics you need to know how much a customer is worth to your business over their lifetime. If you spend $300 to get one customer, then that customer cost you $300. If you know that your average customer ends up spending $600 with you then spending $300 to make $600 is a no-brainer. You’re spending $1 to make $2 so keep doing it. Imagine if you could get those odds on a Pokie machine! Business is fundamentally all about being able to buy customers profitably.

All of this marketing stuff may sound pretty vague and general, but it is important to understand it. When you start doing these things it starts to get apparent very quickly that it’s not easy to implement. For example, how do you know where to look for customers? How do you know that you will get a return on your marketing investments?

The simple answer is you don’t know, but there are some things you can do to increase your odds. You should follow a system or method that has been proven to work over and over again. While MOBE can’t guarantee your results, they can give you the best shot at it through training, coaching and education. You know, it is easier to sell a $30,000 product than a $30 product. The reason is simple, the marketing effort is the same, the work required is the same the only difference is that you are marketing to a really select and highly motivated group of people. People that are much more likely to want to buy than the mass audience you might be trying to sell a $30 product to.
